BoA fans all over the world were surprised and ecstatic when Fox’s hit dance show ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ contestant Asuko Kondoh danced to ‘Did Ya’ for her 30 second solo last June 12. Thanks to Asuko’s great choice of music, the song has garnered much attention and is doing immensely well on iTunes just hours after the show ended. This short clip will hopefully help boost BoA‘s popularity and singing career in the US.
In another news, a music video for BoA’s next single ‘Energetic’ has been shot already though no exact details have been released yet. The video was set in Los Angeles and actually took 13 hours to shoot. Looking forward to that.
Meanwhile, catch BoA as she headlines this year’s San Fracisco Pride event on June 28th. She’ll be performing for 20 minutes starting at 4:35PM PST.

I’m not really sure if this is the real BoA but who knows? She seems to have a lot of time in her hands updating her Twitter and stuff. If this is her then I’m happy she’s taking an extra step in reaching out to her fans. It’s also nice to be updated on what’s been happening to her in the US.
I’m still skeptical but still followed her on Twitter. LOL.
This year’s Video Music Awards Japan was held at Saitama Super Arena last May 30 and today’s big Korean artists, BoA, DBSK and Big Bang, were invited to grace the show.
BoA performed her latest single ‘I Did it for Love’ for the first time with her album producer Sean Garrett. As expected, it was an awesome performance and surprisingly the two has great chemistry on the stage. They look like they were having fun and got the audience all hyped up. They totally rocked it.
BoA and Garrett also confirmed during an interview at the Red Carpet that the next single off her first US album will be Energetic. Let’s just pray this will do well on the charts.
Unfortunately, DBSK was no where in action. Their MV for Mirotic which was nominated for ‘Best Group Video’ also lost to Exile with the MV ‘Ti Amo’.

“BoA has numerous fans around the world, opportunities to work with top American producers, and a top-notch global promotional team. What does it mean that her first English-language album was only a moderate commercial success in the States?”
By: Frederick Stiehl
Two months ago on March 17th, BoA released her debut English album with the aim of gaining access to mainstream American markets. The release of this album is especially pertinent given the release of Utada Hikaru’s second album approximately a month later. To give a short introduction on BoA, the singer began a very early career in Korea at the age of 13, releasing her first album in 2000. She would then spread to Japan, releasing a Japanese album the very next year. Some of her major works include “Jewel Song,” “Valenti,” “No. 1” and “Don’t Start Now.”
Beginning in November of 2008, BoA‘s first English single “Eat You Up” appeared on the radio. However, it was not on an obscure Asian American station that BoA appeared on, but rather KIIS-FM, one of the largest radio stations in the Los Angeles area. Her other major hit, “I Did it for Love,” played throughout the East on major stations. BoA was also to appear at KIIS-FM’s annual Jingle Ball event, as well as in a Times Square performance covered by MTV Iggy and the annual Korean American spectacular Kollaboration. Evidently SM Entertainment has gone to great degrees to promote the album.
Crystal Kay (23) is celebrating the 10th anniversary of her debut this year. Her first song for the year will be a collaboration with BoA (22), titled “Girlfriend feat. BoA.” It will be used as an image song for the Japanese release of the American romantic comedy “He’s Just Not That into You.”
About seven years ago, the two singers became very good friends after having the same dance instructor. As a result, the two said they really enjoyed recording the song, which talks about friendship between women.
The movie, which features an ensemble cast including Ben Affleck and Jennifer Aniston, opens in Japanese theaters on August 1.
